Volunteering In The Philippines
Donation protected
Hey friends, family, and supporters!
A month ago the Philippines was hit by the calamitous Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda). I will be traveling to the Philippines with a group of experienced healthcare providers (over 30 of us) from NY affiliated with a small non-profit organization, Global Health Alliance Network. We will go there on January 10, 2014 for 2 weeks. Our goal is to provide medical care directly to those affected by this natural disaster.
Our initial plan was to go to Tacloban, but our contacts in the Philippines informed us the area is currently unsafe and they are only accepting help from the military. Instead, we will be going to a place called DaanBantayan in Cebu. We will be providing medical care based out of a local church, as it appears there are no local clinics or hospitals in the area left standing at this time.
I am a pharmacy intern and I have volunteered to help. There will be doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, and others. We are a small group and as such, all expenses are paid by ourselves. I am trying to raise funds for this medical mission. We are also taking donations and raising money for medical supplies and medications as well. We are receiving donations from suppliers but we may need to buy what we can't get.
If you are in a position to give, any amount helps. Cents add up to dollars. If this campaign somehow exceeds the goal, all funds will go towards the needs of the medical mission. We will need everything we can. You are not only helping me, but those who need help. Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity!
