US Veteran stuck in Ukraine with COVID-19
Donation protected
I am a 54-year-old veteran asking for your help today. Since September 2019 I have been working 3 jobs teaching. In Ukraine the salary is not big, but living here is cheaper so I was doing great. I managed to save $6,000 by March, but then everything closed due to Covid-19. Since then I have been living off my savings and the small DFAS retirement. Then in July I was at the beach and my backpack with a ton of stuff was stolen. They took the phones and $2000 from the ATM debit card. The bank said it was our fault and did not cover us.
Then I had to pay $800 for encrypted electronic car keys
Over $5,000 worth of damage...
On September 12, I started work again at a school. I was very reluctant because I knew the virus and children are like one.
I needed money so I had to accept, even though it was a small salary. I began work on the 27th of September and 2 days later I began feeling sick. My wife, Lena also got sick.
Since the 29th of September I have spent over $800 in ambulance fees, medicine, x-rays, and other stuff.
I has been over 2 weeks, and I am still sick, worse than ever. Yesterday, October 13 I began coughing blood and was rushed to the hospital.
The hospitals in Ukraine are terrible and the medicine given to me has not been working.
I need funds ASAP to pay for treatment. With enough I may be able to get to Ramstien AFB for proper treatment.
Anything will be greatly appreciated by my family and I.
Other ways of helping-
Pressure the VA, tricare, or the American government to do the right thing and get us to maybe Ramstein AFB for proper treatment.
