Hi Friends, Family, and Supporters!

My name is Melissa, and I’ve started a fundraiser for my friend Jess Evans who is currently battling brain cancer. Jess is the kindest person you’ll ever meet and the first person to offer help when someone needs it. She is a great mom to two young boys, has worked in special education for 17 years, is an animal lover and the strongest person I know. The journey she is on right now is not an easy one, and it takes a toll on you physically, emotionally, and financially. I’m sure the expense of cancer treatments in addition to raising 2 children comes as no surprise to anyone. My goal is to make what she’s going through just a little bit easier by helping to defray her rising medical costs.

Her backstory:

Eight years ago an MRI revealed a non-cancerous oligodendroglioma brain tumor in Jess’s right frontal lobe. Surgery followed and the hope was that would be it. Following the surgery, Jess had an MRI every 6 months to make sure the tumor did not return. Unfortunately, years of clear scans came to an end this year. An MRI revealed the tumor had returned. Now 39 years old, Jess underwent a second brain surgery and received the news that she now has a cancerous grade 3 anaplastic astrocytoma brain tumor. Doctors were able to remove 90% of the tumor and then 6 weeks of daily radiation and chemotherapy followed. She is now in the midst of her year-long chemotherapy treatments, along with numerous tests, medications, doctor visits, and MRI’s.
