Kaitlyn's Medical Bills

Last November, my best friend's life changed forever. Kaitlyn has a histosry of kidney stones, and when she felt the familiar pain in her side she decided to go to urgent care to get it checked out. After a series of ultra sounds, CT scans and MRI's, it was discovered that she had a large mass in her right kidney. From there, everything happend very fast. On January 11th she had surgery to remove the tumor as well as her entire kidney. Her surgery ended up being 15 hours, and the tumor had grown to the size of a football. Dispite this obstacle, the surgery was successful and she is recovering well.

Unfortunately, on March 19th she found out that the cancer had spread. It's papillary (which is rare) and does not respond well to the usual treatments. But the good news is that she was approved for an immunotherapy clinical trial that targets this specific type of cancer and just recently started the treatment.

We've all heard the saying "attitude is everything", and if you know Kaitlyn you would understand how well that applies to her situation. Among the mixed feelings all of this turmoil can stir up, Kaitlyn has not let it silence her strength on her positivity.

Kaitlyn has been a supervisor with the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf since 2013 when the Brea Drive Thru opened. She's also a student at Fullerton college studying costume design and had a strong passion for history and theater. Along with working and making historical costumes, Kaitlyn loves spending time with her family and friends.

Even though her diagnosis threw a wrench into her immediate plans, she is eager to get back to her normal everyday life. As you can imagine, with such a need for medical attention, her hospital bills have started to stack up. This Go Fund Me is to provide some financial relief so she can focus on her treatment and recovery.
