The effects of Michelle's cancer came on slow, but the reality of the diagnosis hit hard & fast, Multiple Myeloma - a blood cancer that deteriorates the bone, already causing a fractured back and hip. It's been said, "Life can change overnight." And oh my, how true is that!

From the start, many family members didn't miss a beat to support Michelle and the household, from getting appointments and treatment going quickly to keeping everyday life running smoothly. Also, Michelle & Tracy are beyond grateful to NW Medical Specialists, PLLC in Puyallup and the medical team that has commandeered her treatment thus far. This staff, along with the proximity to the center, has made this bearable and promising every step of the way.

But now the first leg of the treatment has come to an end, and the second leg is in motion. Fast and furious appears to be the way Fred Hutchinson operates. Michelle is now being prepped for a stem cell transplant. With her family's help, Michelle is riding a roller coaster schedule - being booked for up to four appointments in a day between Fred Hutchinson, University of WA, and other clinics.

I could fill a page about the thousands of dollars cancer care adds up to, and even with healthcare insurance, there is an overwhelming balance. And now there are costs of tolls, parking, gas, and a few meals along with changes to living arrangements/expenses. So far, Michelle is looking at a 30 day quarantine, starting Dec. 4, staying full time in Seattle with the possibility of at least 90 days for this leg of treatment & a long road to recovery. And all this time Tracy is keeping the household as normal as possible with work, school, pets, the upcoming holidays, etc.

Michelle and Tracy would like to think these rising bills and costs are manageable, but the truth is that these expenses will soon be far beyond their reach.

It's time to rally up the forces of friends and family. Every dollar, every share, and every prayer will mean the world to them.
