Help Polly get back on her feet!
Donation protected
Polly is a Wailwan woman (NSW) living on Whadjuk Bookdja (Perth) and has worked hard over the past few years, moving to Perth to give her family a fresh start, completing her traineeship with FISH (Foundation for Indigenous Sustainable Health), building her profile as an Aboriginal artist, alongside full time parenting 4 children!
Polly's one of the most resilient and incredibly positive people we know but in recent months a problem in her right knee has been causing her immense pain, and to add to the challenge, Polly has a piece of glass deep in her left foot. There's been 2 attempts to remove but the glass is lodged so deep that it requires surgery to remove it fully.
Polly's right knee is swollen and causes pain when walking and her left foot has a painful protruding lump also, to the point she can't bear weight on that foot properly. She will laugh and make a joke at the way she has to hobble around, but you can imagine how hard it is trying to deal with that pain while continuing to work and fulfil all the responsibilities of motherhood.
As a working single mum, Polly now needs help.
She is on the waiting list for surgery which means waiting at least another 12 months. Polly needs this surgery ASAP. Without health insurance, the total cost of the 2 surgeries has been quoted at approximately $20,000, and Polly will need to have at least 3 weeks off her feet, so we have a target of $25,000 to cover Polly's living costs during that time off work.
Please donate and help us get Polly back on her feet, running around after her kids, managing the FISH retail shop and smiling at all the wonderful customers there and at the markets and pop up events she participates in.
If you can't donate here, maybe consider buying some of Polly's art or jewellery. Look up Polly on instagram @cosmic_culture_art
