Late Monday night (September 15th) an electrical fire broke out in my brother Tim’s Boston apartment. It started in the ceiling above one of the bathrooms, completely out of his and his roommates’ control. Tim was traveling back from Canada when this happened, and he landed in Boston after midnight to the devastating news. His roommates Anthony and Thomas were able to get out safely, but his cat Flapjack was trapped inside. Thankfully the firefighters were able to get the fire under control and rescue Flapjack, but the damage from the fire, smoke, and water has made their place uninhabitable. Their rooms are destroyed, lots of belongings are ruined, and they won’t be able to return for the foreseeable future.
Tim had just graduated from his accelerated nursing program last month and was already facing the challenge of entering a tough job market as a brand new nurse. Now, on top of the stress of finding a job, he’s dealing with the aftermath of this fire. To make matters worse, they had just signed a new lease and had not gotten renters insurance yet. This means he is left to cover temporary living arrangements, the cost of necessities, and replacing everything that was destroyed out of his own pocket, all after a full year of being in school without any income.
Tim has worked so hard to get to this point, and right as he’s about to begin his career in nursing caring for others, he’s suddenly the one who needs some help. Any contribution, no matter the size, will go directly toward helping him and both of his roommates get back on their feet. If you aren’t able to give, sharing this page means just as much. Thank you for the support & love during such a difficult time.
