Our friend Kyla recently lost her mother in a murder suicide. This is her story.
"My name is Kyla Manning, I am 16 years old and as some of you may already know or heard, my mom, Rebecca Manning, was involved in a murder suicide. She was murdered the night of New Year’s Eve in her bedroom in the house where we lived in Pioneer, CA with her boyfriend, Mathew Schiro who had also taken his own life that night in the same room. I was staying the night at a friends house, had gone to work the next day, and came home to find them dead upstairs. Everything is being processed and dealt with very slowly and any support could help. There may be multiple lawyers involved as well as other taxes with their 5 cars, including mine, their house that they split, cremation and much more. Anything would help to put towards these expenses.
I never met my biological dad or any of his family. My mom has only been close with her brother. Her mother was also involved in a murder suicide in 2012 and she was the next closest person to me other than my mom. My other relatives live in LA and there’s not much they can do because they are getting older. My mom was the greatest person I knew. She never wished anything bad upon anyone. She was the sweetest soul I knew and I’m just happy that she was able to raise me to be who I am today.
I know she would appreciate everything everyone is trying to do to help, I just wish there was more that I can do myself. Everyday will get harder and harder but I know me, as well as everyone else who lost her that day, will get stronger over time because she wouldn’t want anyone to not move on with their lives. We all lost her too soon, but she will never be forgotten.
