Please help Spice, a very ill rescue dog

Spende geschützt
Spice is our lovely rescue dog, he was abandoned in the woods of Wales where he was a stray for several months as a puppy...Not only he had a very hard start in life, but now he is seriously ill.
He recently started to display very bad symptoms; he is breathing heavily, he is in pain , he has fever and he cries a lot.
After several visits to the vet, the diagnosis is uncertain. The vet believes Spice may have a very rare cancer called Mesothelioma but in oder to investigate further we need to do several tests. Our insurance unfortunately doesn't cover this and the costs are incredibly high..
Spice is only five years old and after a very hard start in life we would like to bring him back from the brink but unfortunately is not so simple. He really deserves this.
We are appealing to anyone who can help us either financially or if you are a vet, help us with Spice's case....we would be eternally grateful.
Spice's case is extremely urgent, since this type of cancer spread very quickly.
Spice is part of our family and he he the sweetest most gentle and funny dog I ever met, please help us to give Spice the chance he deserve,  Please...

Spice!!… the charity that rescued him couldn’t choose a more appropriate name for him. Spice is full of beans, always happy, tail constantly wagging, always wants to play, discover, and meet new people and dogs. The thing that Spice loves the most is HUMANS. The love that Spice has for humans is without end! Walking with him in a crowded place is impossible, he wants to meet and greet everyone, I mean EVERYONE! I never met a dog who has such a deep love towards humans, he will choose a human over a T-bone steak every day of the week. No doubt about that.

His story starts when he was found in the woods in Wales, he was just 7/8 months old and he survived in the woods for months eating whatever he could find. It was a very hard start to life.

Luckily he was found and the charity Rescue Remedy, located in Surrey took him in and cared for him, he was cleaned and fed, he was medically assessed and he was named Spice.

Spice was placed in foster care with Tania, a wonderful volunteer, and this is where we found him, living with this lovely couple and a boxer called Brandy.

We fell for him, and took him home to Tottenham but in the beginning it was hard, Spice arrived un-housetrained, he responded to his name only if there were no other distractions, he was pulling very badly on the leash and tried to chase anything that moved. Spice was a very high energy dog so he needed to run and play to release those extra energies. At that time I didn’t have a job so I was spending 4 or 5 hours per day training him, playing with him and exercising him. We took him to dog training classes for about 6 months. It took a long time and a lot of energy but after a while we bonded and Spice started responding to our commands and being obedient.

Now we can let him free at the park and he will stay to heel unless we tell him to go, his recall is impeccable and he loves to please us. In return we gave him treats, toys and all the love we can muster.

He loves learning tricks and getting treats or toys as a reward. He is incredibly clever, he learns most tricks in a matter of minutes, or hours for the difficult ones.

He knows all the basics, sit, lay, stay, paws, leave it, he also gives you high fives, he spins, he rolls and he can close the door on command. Perhaps Britain’s Got Talent beckons for the future!

Spice has been with us almost 4 years and he is nearly 5 years old.

He is the sweetest most funny and adorable dog I ever known, his love for human astonishes everyone, most of our neighbours don’t know our names, they know us as Spice’s mom and dad!!

But all has changed now, Spice is tired, doesn’t want to play, eat, or drink.

This is when the story takes a dark turn.

About 3 weeks ago Spice became ill, he was vomiting and shaking, so we took him to the vet, who told us he had a fever and had a strong gastroenteritis after possibly eating something toxic at the park. He got given IV fluids because he was very dehydrated and antibiotics to combat the infection.

After few days his condition worsened, he was breathing very fast and there was a rolling noise coming from his chest, so we took him again to the vet who took an x-ray. The x-ray showed liquids on his chest cavities. Some samples were taken and when the results came they were not good.

Bad cells are present in the sample taken and there is a possibility  it may be a rare form of cancer but there’s also a good chance he has a problem with his lungs which could be easily remedied. In  order to know for sure Spice needs to have a CT scan which costs £3000. We cannot give up and cut short his wonderful life without knowing for sure. Spice is insured but, because he is so young I  only purchased an accident only policy, and cancer is not covered.

Because of Covid-19 pandemic, Dan my partner and Spice's dad, had little or no work and my hours were drastically reduced, we cannot afford Spice’s treatment. We managed to pay for the latest tests and vet fees, our families helped us a little but now we are faced with this extremely expensive treatment.

I am begging everyone who is reading this to please help Spice. He is the sweetest boy and he is only 5 years old. He still has so much life ahead of him. He was abandoned and had to care for himself when he was just a puppy, his start in life was very hard, all         because of humans, but he never lost the love for humans, it only made it stronger.

Any donation is appreciated, if you are a vet and want to help us by testing him or giving medications or any help at all, also it is very much appreciated.

He is the one making us smile in the morning, he greets us after a hard day of work, he has always made a boring indoor day funny and entertaining, he has made us better people. During the Covid pandemic he kept us going and helped us through this terrible time, having him has been a blessing and we owe him to try all we can to make him happy and healthy.

Please help Spice.
