American History Challenge Bowl

Tax deductible
The American Heritage Heritage Education Foundation, Inc. (AHEF) is a non-profit, non-partisan education charity (501.c.3) that is seeking funding to send 24 college students to the second AMERICAN HISTORY & WESTERN CIVILIZATION CHALLENGE BOWL (AHWCCB) in January 2018 and to fund the student scholarship prizes.  We must raise support now to confirm that this event will happen!

AHWCCB is a college-level academic competition and scholarship to encourage colleges and students to teach and learn America's founding and Bible-based heritage.  (See more info on AHWCCB.)  The program seeks to counter the decline of the teaching of American History and Western Civilization in schools and colleges and the increasing lack of knowledge among Americans about our nation's civic values and institutions.  (For more info and studies on the problem, see "Problem " at americanheritage.org .)

The goals of the AHWCCB are 1) to encourage college programs and students to teach and learn America's History & Western Civilization, the American idea, and what it means to be an America; 2) to ignite excitement, engagement, and youthful appeal in the learning of America's heritage; 3) to improve appreciation and love of the United States of America; and 4) to develop an educated citizenry essential to maintaining our self-governing republic.

With a competitive spirit, academic recognition, and financial incentives for students and schools, the AHWCCB aims to reignite the study of these important subjects.  Such civic knowledge and understanding is an essential purpose of American education.  AHWCCB also aims to encourage students to become well-informed, engaged citizens who are equipped to perpetuate America's founding values--including our unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.  These outcomes benefit our nation and future.

Under the guidance of their professors/coaches, selected students prepare for several months prior to the event.  They also receive essay topics.  At the event, students deliver oral presentations and answer lightning-round questions, with the winning team advancing to the next round.  These activities require students to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of historical and philosophical concepts, readings, people, events, etc.  The competition is advised and judged by two subject experts/professors and one moderator, all from accredited universities.

In January 2017, AHEF launched the inaugural competition.  Students from four (4) Texas universities competed for scholarships and recognition.  Donors like you made this event possible, and your help is needed to expand our reach.  With your donation, we will grow this pioneer competition to eight Texas universities in January 2018.  We must raise $100,000 beyond our normal operations this Spring/Summer 2017 to expand to eight teams in January 2018.  If successful, we will expand the event to nationwide in 2019.

The eight 3-student teams to compete in 2018 will be Sam Houston State U, Houston Baptist U, Texas Southern U, Texas State U, Texas A&M U, U of Texas at Austin, Baylor U, and Texas Tech U.

Funds will pay for coaching, travel and accommodations for students and coaches, and scholarship prizes.

AHEF (americanheritage.org ) is the sponsor of this event.  AHEF is a non-profit, non-partisan charity organization dedicated to the understanding and teaching of America's factual, philosophical heritage among students and citizens, with special emphasis on the Bible-inspired principles that shaped America's foundations.
