Help Amputee Father get a Handcycle

Joel VanderLey is one of the most amazing individuals I have ever met.  His positive attitude and caring spirit are contagious. Four years ago, Joel came down with the flu and developed a streptococcal infection that nearly took his life and resulted in the amputation of his entire right leg. Before and since, Joel's unwavering faith in God has carried him through his adversity and recovery.  An avid outdoorsman, Joel continues to pursue as many activities as he can.  He is an inspiring leader at work and supports his family, including four children. 

I have had the pleasure of knowing Joel since the early 1980's when we belonged to the same church and attended youth group together.  We also attended the same high school. It wasn't until my own sister passed away two years ago from the very same condition that claimed Joel's leg that we became reunited.  I have spent some time with him over the past few months and have seen his beautiful spirit and strong faith shine on those around him.  

To celebrate Joel's miraculous recovery from an illness that all of his doctors thought he wouldn't survive, I would like him to have the gift of a handcycle, a bike that can be pedaled with his hands, instead of his feet, so that he can continue to enjoy being outdoors recreationally.
