Hi, I’m Jess. I’m a nurse practitioner who worked in the ICU during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Like many healthcare workers, I pushed through the trauma at the time because I felt called to help. But when I left that intensive environment and transitioned to remote work, I didn’t bounce back. I developed severe PTSD, depression, and chronic daily migraines and eventually had to step back from work to focus on recovery.
Since February 2024, I’ve been in intensive therapy, approximately 15-30 hours a week. I have made slow and steady progress but continue to deal with a degree of symptoms that significantly impairs my day-to-day functioning and ability to navigate life.
After 2 years away from my career, I am completely out of money to support myself. My recent long-term disability claim was denied, and I am in the long process of appealing it so that I can have financial stability moving forward.
Lately, the constant sense of potential financial collapse has been undermining my ability to focus on recovery. My family has generously helped me in so many ways, but at this time I need more support to heal and rebuild my life.
I’m raising funds to help with:
- Living expenses while I focus on recovery (rent, food, transportation, utilities, insurance, etc.)
- Mental health treatment not fully covered by insurance (medication, co-pays, premiums, etc.)
- Medical costs related to chronic pain and migraines
Asking for help is hard. But your support, through a donation or even sharing this link, will help me continue treatment and stay stable while I rebuild my life.
Thank you for reading and supporting me in whatever way you are able to. It means more than I can say.
With gratitude,
Jess
