Hi my name is Betty and I'm fundraising to pay back Property taxes on my home. I am 68, a widow and have no one else to ask for help. I have lived here since 1977. My family and I moved in after my grandmother passed away. The city has not sent me a tax bill in years. They were sending the bills to an old address of my son. He is the only family left. He lives 5 hours away and is really unable to help me.

They city sent me a bill for over 12,000, which was a shock when you are on social security, I will have to make payments for the next 2 years of 3000, twice a year, which will be a really tight stretch. They are demanding a first payment of 3000 to start the payments in the next 30 days. i don't have any savings, I can't even afford a car, and I can't come up with that much money in 30 days. I only have the Social Security and one small part time job once a week for income.

If I don't make the first payment, then they will take my house to auction it off for the taxes due. I'm desperate and scared. I have two young grandsons who live with me. I will not have anywhere to go.
