06/16 update:
On Wednesday morning, 06/12, Greg was driving to a work site when the front right tire in his boom truck blew, causing him to crash. Greg sustained several facial fractures, bruises and a TBI in the accident. He was life flighted to Research Med Center where he has been monitored in the ICU since the accident. The CAT scans showed improvement; however Greg was having a difficult time waking up. A MRI was done showing several brain micro-hemorrhages and mild DAI. Greg had a feeding tube placed on 6/16 so he is able to receive some nutrition because he has not been alert enough to try a swallow study.
The plan is to transfer Greg this next week to Madonna Rehab in NE, where he will receive therapy for the TBI and help his brain “re-wire” so he can (God-willing) regain most function. Greg’s parents and family will alternate staying and visiting with Greg in NE for as long as it takes him to recover. Greg’s kids (Penny, Lawrence and Emily) are all safe and Greg responds well to them. He even woke up enough on Father's Day to tell them “HI” and “BYE” over the phone! It was so great and lifted everyone’s spirits!
We would love some help for the extra expenses that Greg and his family will incur during the next months. Most of all, we ask for prayers for a full recovery. If you are looking for an update on Greg’s condition, please look here before reaching out to the family, as we will continue to post updates about Greg on this page.
Lastly, we want to thank everyone who has reached out to our family during this time. Your support and prayers have been incredible and overwhelming.
