It is with a heavy & broken heart that I have to change the name of this Go Fund Me page.

Life threw yet another curve ball at Bobby on Sunday, June 1. After a risky surgery on Monday, our sweet Bobby wasn’t able to recover. He fought so hard but passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 3.

As the name of the fundraiser now states, the money collected will be used to help support Tara and Zach with the unexpected expenses they now face.

I dropped the “in law” part years ago. Rest easy, my sweet brother. I’ll miss you every day.

I’ve created this page in an effort to help my brother in law, Bobby, get the home modifications & equipment needed for him to come home from the hospital after life changing surgery.

Bobby has fought a hard fight in the last 5 years and has kicked butt at every turn. He’s easily the strongest man I know. After a foot infection that was relentless, Bobby had his right leg amputated below the knee on April 14th.

On April 13th, the day before the amputation, Bobby lost all vision in his right eye & much of the vision in the left. It was completely unrelated and the cause is unknown. Unfortunately it is permanent.

Bobby is recovering in the hospital but when it’s time to come home, Tara & Bobby’s home will need some modifications. An exterior ramp to get into the house, an interior ramp to get up onto the main level, and a powered chair lift to get him upstairs where his bedroom, bathroom, and dialysis suite are located. Doorways will need to be widened to accommodate his wheelchair. At this point, we don’t know what Bobby might need to aide him with this vision loss.

Tara has done a lot of research looking for any type of financial assistance available but sadly, Manitoba is one of the only provinces in Canada that doesn’t provide any financial aide for the newly disabled under 65 yrs old or who aren’t veterans.

Tara is also on long term disability and is spending any “extra” money they have to pay for gas & parking at HSC. Neither of their extended health coverage covers home modifications or most assistance items Bobby may need.

I’d like to try to raise enough funds that these home improvements can be made without adding another stress to Tara & Bobby.

Anyone who knows Bobby knows that he’d much prefer to be donating to a cause than to be on the receiving end. He’s a proud man with a heart of gold who deserves an accessible home to return to. They really need a win. I know money is tight for everyone these days but I ask that you please consider donating any amount to this cause. As a sister, this is heartbreaking to not only watch Bobby suffer through pain, surgery, and physio, but to also know the emotional toll on both of them this is taking.

Please help me take the financial worry off their plate.
