My baby girl spent nearly 4 weeks fighting a very rare disease called HLH. My baby was 2 and half years old when this disease came out of no where and took us by storm. We spent a week going back and forth to Natividad hospital being sent home saying she had a virus that would clear on its own. Something that was extremely irritating because everyday my fighter got sicker and sicker with new symptoms. By the time blood was drawn on Emilia’s 7th visit all of her blood counts were dangerously low & her liver had suffered a serious beating. The staff at Stanford Lucile Packard worked really hard to help my baby get better and for a while it seemed like it was working. Until we seen her become unresponsive to find that she had a brain hemorrhage that resulted in lack of blood flow to the brain. The only comfort we had from it was that she was very well sedated when it happened. This whole experience seems extremely surreal but we just want to thank anyone that is able to help us lay my baby to rest.
