Eddie's Memorial Fund and Charity

Hi family and friends, my name is Adrian, and I'm fundraising for my brother Eddie's memorial service and transport. My brother Eduardo Alvarado Rivera passed away at 54 in Los Angeles, Ca. Eduardo was born in downtown Jersey City on June 5th, 1968, to Felix Alvarado and Nilda Rivera. He is survived by his father, Felix, his five beautiful sisters and myself. Eddie loved music. The Beastie Boys, KRS-1 and everything hip hop in the early '80s. He was a decent break dancer in the way the early '80s, and Eddie loved to laugh; he had a vast corny sense of humor. He was the funniest guy I knew. Unfortunately, my brother became a victim of addiction. Addiction would become the battle of his life.

Eddie was a fighter, he did his best to overcome his affliction, and when he did, Eddie would excel beyond belief. He had many years of healthy living and gave all he had when given the opportunity. Unfortunately, addiction has won. It is an unfortunate epidemic throughout our society. My brother Eddie fought the good fight. I can attest that he did his best. He was a great uncle to my two kids. Eddie lived on and off the streets most of his life. The streets is where his life ended.

But Eddie's story doesn't end there; Eddie touched the lives of many along the way. Whoever Eddie came across, good or bad, Eddie left an impression on you. He could be magnetic.

I've been overwhelmed by the response we have been getting for Eddie. From his friends and family, even strangers. Everyone wants to open their hearts and help give Eduardo his well-deserved goodbye. I've been able to begin the process of making sure Eddie is being cared for and will have his ashes soon.

I wasn't sure how I felt about doing this fund, but after the response I've received for Eddie, I felt an epiphany to make something significant about this.

If you can contribute, it would be much appreciated; we are using the funds to give him a memorial in Jersey City's Eddie'ss hometown and then bring him home to Puerto Rico. I will also be starting a charity under Eddie's name called The Eduardo Alvarado Addiction Awareness. In hopes that Eddie's story can help save just one person from overcoming addiction. I will use all my power and resources while I'm alive to see this through.

Mi hermano Eduardo Alvarado Rivera falleció a los 54 años en Los Ángeles, Ca. Eduardo nació en el centro de la ciudad de Jersey el 5 de junio de 1968, hijo de Félix Alvarado y Nilda Rivera. Le sobreviven su padre, Félix, sus cinco hermosas hermanas y yo. Eddie amaba la música. Los Beastie Boys, KRS-1 y todo el hip hop de principios de los 80. Era un bailarín de break dance decente a la manera de principios de los 80, y a Eddie le encantaba reírse; tenía un gran sentido del humor cursi. Era el tipo más divertido que conocía. Desafortunadamente, mi hermano se convirtió en víctima de la adicción. La adicción se convertiría en la batalla de su vida.

Eddie era un luchador, hizo lo mejor que pudo para superar su aflicción, y cuando lo hizo, Eddie sobresaldría más allá de lo creíble. Tuvo muchos años de vida saludable y dio todo lo que tenía cuando se le presentó la oportunidad. Desafortunadamente, la adicción ha ganado. Es una lamentable epidemia en toda nuestra sociedad. Mi hermano Eddie peleó la buena batalla. Puedo dar fe de que hizo lo mejor que pudo. Era un tío abuelo de mis dos hijos. Eddie vivió dentro y fuera de las calles la mayor parte de su vida. Las calles es donde terminó su vida.

Pero la historia de Eddie no termina ahí; Eddie tocó la vida de muchos en el camino. Quienquiera que se encontrara Eddie, bueno o malo, Eddie te dejó una impresión. Podría ser magnético.

Me ha abrumado la respuesta que hemos recibido de Eddie. De sus amigos y familiares, incluso extraños. Todos quieren abrir su corazón y ayudar a darle a Eduardo su merecido adiós. Pude comenzar el proceso de asegurarme de que Eddie esté siendo atendido y pronto tenga sus cenizas.

No estaba seguro de cómo me sentía acerca de hacer este fondo, pero después de la respuesta que recibí de Eddie, sentí una epifanía para hacer algo significativo al respecto.

Si puede contribuir, sería muy apreciado; estamos usando los fondos para darle un memorial en la ciudad natal de Jersey City y traerlo de regreso a Puerto Rico. También comenzaré una organización benéfica bajo el nombre de Eddie llamada The Eduardo Alvarado Addiction Awareness. Con la esperanza de que la historia de Eddie pueda ayudar a salvar a una sola persona de superar la adicción. Usaré todo mi poder y recursos mientras esté vivo para ver esto.
