My name is Desirey Landaverde. I am 13 years old, and I attend Joseph Le Conte Middle School. My school is offering an amazing learning opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C. and New York City in early Spring of 2018 (worldstrides.com/itineraries/washington-d-c-and-new-york-city/ ). My goal is to raise money for my best friend Sara, who is unable to go. Sara is dedicated and committed to her education. She is a s straight-A student, and daughter to a single, hardworking mother. As a consequence she doesn't ask for much. Sara is very aware of her mother's financial situation. My friend is an amazing big sister, a leader, and inspiration to me. I ran the marathon this year because she encouraged me to do it alongside her. When I wanted to give up, she was there for me. If there's anyone who deserves to be part of this amazing experience is Sara. The trip will cost $2,700. If unable to pay in full, students must pay $100 by September 14th, and the remainder throughout the rest of the year.
