On February 28, 2023 around 9pm I got a call that I never expected to get. My little sister was hit by a van on her walk home. She’s a well mannered, smart, and strong girl. She’s my biggest helper. She’s always very precautious and follows all the rules. She was a block away from home. We’re completely unaware of the circumstances in which it happened but she was knocked unconscious. The impact was rough. She was thrown a few feet. She has a concussion, her nose is fractured, has lacerations and bruises throughout her face/body. Her left femur was severely broken. I made it to the hospital as soon as I could and I’ve been by her side crying every single tear with her. The pain she’s gone through is unexplainable. She’s had a successful surgery on her femur. She is incredibly strong. She’s still able to smile and look at the bright side. But she’s got a long way to go. She’ll have to relearn how to use her left leg and come back for numerous appointments. As a family our main focus is to keep her as comfortable as possible. She won’t be able to do most things alone. She’ll need a walker/scooter to get around and the bills are starting to come in. Rents going to be late and we’ll need a lawyer. Anything helps even wishful thoughts.
