I just got an invitation from Google to join the Glass Explorer program. The Glass is the big wearable tech project from Google, and it's the next wave in consumer technology. Glass allows a user to carry almost all the functions of a smartphone in a hands-free, voice-operated package. Also, it makes you look like you're from the future, so there's that. I have a chance here to help shape the future of wearable technology, and to put something on my resume that few in the world can match. Money's a little tight, though, and I'm facing the prospect of missing this opportunity. Enrollment in the Glass program (which includes hardware, a development kit, and free trade-ins for newer versions of the device) costs $1500 + tax, which I expect to be around $150. I'm hoping to raise $1700 here to cover these costs and the GoFundMe service charges.


Those who know me know that the future of technology and its ability to improve our lives are very important to me, and I'd love to have this chance to take a more active role in shaping that future.
