I've never made one of these before, but I'm desperate. On October 7th, my sweet boy Archie had to be taken to the emergency vet for a life threatening urethral obstruction. He stayed there overnight and was able to come home with me the next day. Although we were faithful with his meds and he's been switched to a new urinary diet, that still wasn't enough. Fast forward to today, he has reblocked and has had to be hospitalized for the second time. This has been an emotional and heart-wrenching few weeks for Archie and myself. Anyone who knows me knows I would do anything I can for my fur babies. After discussing and agreeing to have him unblocked a second time, it was time to decide what to do moving forward. The emergency vet recommended a consult with a specialist for a procedure called a Perineal Urethrostomy. Essentially, Archie would have a new urethra and a much smaller risk of reblocking in the future. I have my consult tomorrow, but I'm so overwhelmed and in heartache over what that cost will look like. After the two visits for his unblocking, I've spent $6,000 at the emergency vet. The cost estimated for Archie to have this procedure is between $4,000-$5,000 additional dollars. I've maxed out my care credit card, gone through my savings, and am looking at maxing out another credit card to try and afford this any way I can. If Archie was an old man cat, maybe this situation would be a little different, but he's only 3 years old and has so much life and love to give. It's hard for me to ask for help, but if anyone has anything they can donate towards his bill, I would be forever grateful, and I know if Archie could tell you how thankful he is, he would with chin bites and head butts.
