Please help me save Moose's legs!
Donation protected
Hi! Meet my beautiful boy Moose, a 50 lb. mixed Brittany Spaniel.
Two months ago, just before his 6th birthday, Moose fell and slipped a disc in his spine. For the next five weeks, I had to keep him immobile, hoping to avoid permanent paralysis. With the help of many medications, moving myself & my mattress onto the floor, confining us both to a 6×6 ft. area, and physically carrying him out to go to the bathroom all day and night, Moose's spine healed.
That was the good news.
Now for the bad news...
The reason Moose fell in the first place was that he had knee problems, which turned out to be Luxating Patellas, a dislocation of the kneecap.
Moose can still barely walk or even stand up to eat or drink, so we sent him in to get x-rays. These images show that Moose was born with some deformities. His legs are bowed, and both kneecaps sit on the inside of each leg, not on top of his knees, where they should be. This is extremely painful, and the only fix is orthopedic surgery.
Moose needs both kneecaps moved into the correct position and both legs partially straightened, so the kneecaps stay in place.
This brings me to why I am here today. I have a neurological disorder that prevents me from working, and disability is my only form of income. So I have no way to pay for Moose's surgery, which will cost around $7,000 (see attached estimate).
I spend all of my time at home with Moose. He is my constant companion. It's heartbreaking to watch him in either total pain or completely medicated out.
Moose needs this surgery. If he doesn't get it, the incredible pain he is already in will get worse to the point that he will have to be put down. I've been assured that after having this surgery, he will completely recover, feeling even better than he ever had before. Moose needs to be able to go outside, run around & play and just be a dog again.
To all of my friends and family, and any other generous souls, I am asking all of you for your help. Please give a donation towards Moose's surgery.
If you are unable to help today, I ask that you share Moose's GoFundMe page on your social media. Please spread the word because Moose and I are very much in need of the kindness of strangers.
I thank you and appreciate any and all help you may give to us.
Happy Holidays from Nikki & Moose!
