He is not just a family member but more so a best friend of two young girls and their parents, a protector of all things, a kind and gentle soul, one who gives unconditional love, grace and sweet kisses on a bad day, a lap dog even though he is 80 pounds, a steadfast runner and the occasional roll in the grass with a side of mischief.
Titan is his name and he is soon to be 7 years old. Most beautiful Black and Tan German shepherd with a hint of silver. He became our youngest family member in 2015. Just 4 weeks old. His mom stopped feeding him so we adopted him and embraced him with all the love in the world. We named him Titan because he was so tiny he could fit in the palm of both hands but we knew he would grow to be nothing short of great!
This past Saturday, he was struck by a car in front of our home. The woman not only hit him but drug him approximately 20 feet while he then roll under her back left tire and exited the rear of the car. He then miraculously dragged himself back to our home, along with his brother (our 8 year old Aussie shepherd) by his side trying to help. She was recorded leaving the scene (exiting our neighborhood) 4 minutes following the accident. She not only changed Titans life for the worse but also ours and left without one bit of concern. Titan has spent the last two nights in a veterinarian hospital. Having extensive laceration repair and tons of bloodwork and imaging to gain perspective on why he is no longer able to use his back legs. He was transported this morning to another animal hospital, whom have the capabilities of more extensive imaging and specialist to aid in his diagnosis. The whole incident has been horrific to deal with, on Titan and us as a family. It also sickens me that life as a whole is measured not by value but of the dollar. The bills that we have accrued so far are outrages. Already exceeding $5000. Adding the imaging next will exceed $10,000. The amount of money projected to be charged is astronomical. Between imaging, neuro and possible surgery. Following that, regular treatments and physical therapy. The end is nowhere in site at the moment and I am desperate for help! Please consider donating to help save Titan. He deserves a fighting chance! The loss of him to our family would be unfathomable. Thank you for all you chose to do in advance. It means the world to us!
