Hi :) We are two college students who started a social enterprise this summer! We make waffle cookies and sell them in stores and at farmer's markets. Our profits go towards funding projects of social impact in Detroit. We currently support an incredible non-profit called The Empowerment Plan (www.empowermentplan.org), that benefits the city by helping the homeless population. We also partnered with The Start-Up Effect, which aids students in Detroit with limited resources who are interested in entrepreneurship.
We had our preliminary tasting with Whole Foods Detroit and they loved the waffle cookie! Now, we need funds to help purchase a UPC code and the proper packaging and labeling that Whole Foods requires.
We are hoping to raise money to help with the start-up costs of the business so that we can fully launch our social impact campaign!
We will use the money we raise to pay for...
~Funding more projects of social impact, such as The Empowerment Plan and The Start-Up Effect
~Our lawyer who set up our business as a legal entity
~Rent fees for use of a certified kitchen
~Our accountant who organizes our taxes
~2 students to bake and deliver our orders while we are away at school
~Ingredients and packaging
~Upscaling our production equipment to be more efficient
~Necessary tools so we can bring the waffle cookie to Colgate University and University of Pennsylvania!
