Tammy's Banana Stand Legacy Fund
Tammy Jane taught me the power of choosing laughter in the middle of fear.
I met Tammy, my cancer momma bear as it were, through a small online ovarian cancer support group she started. A space where strangers navigating the same terrifying diagnosis quickly became something much more.
We shared fears, dark humor, treatment updates, and the kind of honesty that doesn't always fit neatly into everyday conversation. Somewhere along the way, internet strangers became cancer family.
Near the end of her journey, I sent Tammy a small comfort gift to hospice, something I had also done for several women from our little corner of the cancer world. Her final message to our group was simply thanking me for that gift.
I had joked that while she held many impressive roles throughout her life, I hoped she wore the title of "Queen of the Twinkle Twits" with the most pride.
She replied:
"Thanks for making me laugh."
And honestly... I love that the last thing I gave her was laughter.
This fund exists because of her.
Because of the women who carried me through my own cancer journey when I wasn't sure I could carry myself.
Because of the reminder that the way we show up for one another matters.
And because kindness, comfort, and human connection deserve a place in the world.
What Tammy's Banana Stand Does: provide small comfort gifts, custom Wish Kits, and practical support to people navigating ovarian cancer and its aftermath.
Because sometimes what helps most is simply knowing someone sees you as a person, not a prognosis.
Initial efforts will focus on supporting members of Tammy Jane's original Humanist Ovarian Cancer Support Group, with hopes of expanding our reach over time.
