My name is Jennifer Maxwell. I have known the McGregor Family for more than 30yrs. They have always treated me like family and with their permission Im setting up this page and telling their tragic story.........
I could go into years of memories and stories that I shared with the McGregors but anyone that has had the pleasure of knowing them, has some pretty great memories too!! Thats just the kind of family they all are,,,, fun, loving, caring, forgiving and strong! No matter if you havent seen them in years or you just left their house yesterday, you re always greeted with a big smile, hug and kiss!
On Saturday August 8, 2015, while driving home from a family vacation in Myrtle Beach SC, they were in a tragic car accident. A beautiful family lost their father, husband, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. While his wife, in critical condition, battles for her life. Because of the severity of the accident and both of them being pinned in the SUV by the guardrail, it took the volunteers, EMS, fire and police over an hour to get Judy out. Heather McGregor Lukens (Daughter), her son Connor and husband Jim were in another car and rushed to help. Melissa McGregor Morgano (Daughter) and her husband Bill all tried to comfort Jimmy and keep him conscience. Unfortunately Jimmy passed at the scene. Judy was life flighted to Wake Forest Baptist Trauma Center where she was only given a 10% chance of making it. She has already gone through several surgeries to repair her torn aorta, broken leg and both her kidneys were failing. Melissa suffers a broken nose, Bill and their 2 small children have minor injuries.
A special THANK YOU to all the wonderful people who helped along the way. If it wasnt for the brave families that stopped to help on the side of the road or the heroic volunteers, EMS, fire, police and ALL the amazing staff at Wake Forest Baptist Trauma Center, my life long friends could have lost both their parents that day.
The McGregors road to recovery is far from over. Once Judy is well enough to come back home to Pittsburgh, she will bury her soulmate of 43yrs.
No family should have to suffer such tragity. My heart hurts for them. To have watch your father take his last breath or not know if your mother is going to survive, breaks my heart.
By making this page Im hoping to get their family some help with the extra travel expenses, medical bills, nursing home costs, physical therapy and rehab cost and whatever other battles they will face.
On behalf of The McGregor Family I wish to thank everyone for the overwhelming love, support and prayers theyve all recieved durning this devastating time.
Thank you
