Farm under lava- no time to evac
Donation protected
May 3, 2018 my family & I had to evacuate due to sudden volcanic eruptions on the ridge above us called Leilani Estates. We had time to only evacuate our 100 farm animals before our home & farm were covered in lava! I am Tesha Mirah Montoya & for 17 years I planted & poured my heart & soul into the earth creating an oasis of permaculture with fruit forests & community gardens using off grid solar systems growing over 100 different kinds of fruits! The gardens & bounty became so abundant over 17 years of hard work stewarding that we were able to eat 2-3 meals a day from it and sell extra fruit & honey to the Natural grocers, fruit stand & kombucha bar. We lost our home & business from volcanic eruptions that happened suddenly with many rivers of lava that eventually took our farm over the coarse of the eruptive month! We did not have time to evacuate our belongings :( The earth was beautiful with exotic tropical fruits, raised veggie garden beds, taro patches, medicinal plants, nuts & herbs & flowers of every kind! Evan our durians fruited heavily! We cared for around 100 animals on the vegetarian farm. I hosted a permaculture experience in the jungle offering affordable housing options such as work trade for about 100 people a year. We threw events for the community. Also what was lost in the lava is : an exotic tropical fruit tree nursery, my sewing studio for my fashion business including sewing machines, my house - a 3 story octagon, 4 cabins, 2 community centers (giant geo dome and a 6 sided tea house made of bamboo), a community kitchen , 5 deluxe campsites , 2 greenhouses, children’s playground, a zipline , 15 animal habitat houses (for sheep, guinea pigs, bunnies, chicks & ducks), a 2 story mercabah, tool shed, community bath house, solar equipment & lots of rare plants! I do not have a savings because creating a farm with housing for others is quite expensive ~ each dime I made for 18 years went into the farm/ eco center. I made a modest income also selling the produce, eggs & honey that I am now without. This is why I am asking for help with donations to start over somewhere. Also, our local town businesses such as my boutique have suffered from economical crash involving unhealthy gases, earthquakes & eruptions keeping away tourists & shoppers. I lost everything in lava & so did my family.., so we are in need of simple things now like a sewing machine so I can continue my career as a fashion designer, or things like furniture or a mop. If anyone would like to collaborate on land in Hawaii or elsewhere with similar visions, or donate to help me get on land or rentals I’m open to what Great Spirit has for me next! Any donation will help able me to get some sort of foundation again. I’m forced to start new somewhere now and could use help with the moving expenses. FEMA denied helping me as well as so many others in our community that also lost homes in lava :( Prayers for the people of Puna & our beloved beauty green nature lands of Pohoiki & Kapoho... I give thanks for my time I was blessed to spend on In nature’s Eden. Thank u to all those helped make it special along the way ❤️ thank you for your care & supoort
