Thank you for wanting to help the Smalley family.
Dakotah Smalley has just turned 8 years old. She has three brothers and three sisters, and lives with her family at home in Bussleton, nearly three hours south of Perth in Western Australia.
Oh …….. Dakotah was diagnosed with Burkitt's Lymphoma and Leukemia on Friday 24th July 2015. This diagnosis means that Dakotah faces the challenge of at least six months in Princess Margaret Hospital for Children in Perth.
Dakotah is facing aggressive treatment for her cancers and would love to have her family around her as she fights this huge battle.
Dakotah’s dad, Michael, is staying with her in Perth to care for her. He cannot work during this time and will have food, transport and accommodation expenses.
Her mum, Hayley, will remain in Bussleton with Dakotah’s brothers and sisters, and will continue working full time. The plan is for the family to make the six hour return trip to Perth to be with Dakotah as often as possible – they are hoping that this will be every weekend.
Dakotah’s parents will need to pay the petrol costs for this trip, plus food and accommodation expenses. The family will need a large motel room near the hospital to spend the maximum time with Dakotah during her treatment.
The challenges of Dakotah’s illness are huge for Dakotah and her family, both emotionally and financially. Dakotah needs as much love and support as her family can provide as she fights her cancers.
Can you help the Smalley family with the costs of being by Dakotah’s side at this time?
