Support Amanda's fight against Leukemia!
Donation protected
On behalf of my niece, Amanda Bergmann, I am establishing this GoFundMe page to help her with medical and household bills while she undergoes a bone-marrow transplant for Leukemia. You may be wondering why I'm doing this? Amanda's mom, my sister, LauraKim, passed away eight years ago; so, my husband, Bob, and I now claim Amanda as one of our own. We adore this beautiful, strong young woman and hope you will read her story..............
On February 17, 2022, Amanda drove herself to a walk-in clinic after having extreme back/neck pain and after throwing up for over a week. The walk-in clinic took labs and then immediately rushed her to the ER. Less than a week later, she was diagnosed with Leukemia (Myelodysplastic Syndrome). Amanda is 34 years old and the mother of twin girls, Hannah and Rylee.
Treatment is quite extensive often lasting up to a year or more. Amanda just finished two rounds of Chemotherapy and is scheduled to have a bone-marrow transplant in mid-June. To qualify for the transplant, the hospital, Northside Hospital in Atlanta, requires her to prove she has guaranteed 24-hour around the clock care for at least 180 days. Grant, the father of her girls, has unselfishly put his business on pause and is stepping up to be her caregiver. This GoFundMe will help bridge the gap of her living expenses and medical bills not covered by insurance.

A bone-marrow transplant is a harrowing experience. I'm told it will be brutal......but it is something she plans on beating because the thought of not being around to watch her girls grow up is more than she can comprehend. She said to me, "Honestly, I don't care if I come out of this financially devastated. I'll take on a lifetime of paying back medical bills for more my time with my family. I just need to keep a roof over my girls' heads and food on the table."
Any donation is sincerely appreciated. We thank you for taking the time to review this GoFundMe and for all of your prayers during this difficult time. If you live or travel near Atlanta, Georgia, please consider donating platelets. The need is immediate and urgent.
