Help Save Fitz

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Melissa; my close friend Ramani and her kiddos almost lost their dog Fitz to a tragic accident on Wednesday morning and are now trying to do everything they can to save him. Their dog Fitz, a Golden Retriever, escaped their home on Tuesday evening, and after searching all night with no luck, it was discovered the following day that he was hit by a car on King Ave in Billings and suffered severe injuries. Here is the update and information on what happened to Fitz. Fitz was hit at approximately 30 miles per hour; the impact was on his chest and head. Fitz was wrapped up and rushed to Moore Lane Vet as he was still alive and holding on by a thread. Fitz is still alive and fighting hard to stay alive. He is in extremely critical condition, and the vets are working on stabilizing him. Fitz has air in his chest, which has caused his heart to become displaced, and they are hoping that it will slowly correct itself, but time will tell on that. Also, he is still in massive shock and has extremely low blood pressure. His neck is not broken, although the impact caused him to dislocate his vertebrae, causing massive pressure on his spinal cord, which in turn is causing some cognitive deficits. They are trying to stabilize Fitz as he needs to have a CT scan as soon as possible to have a chance of correcting any of those deficits. However, the CT scan is risky as he would have to be put under to do the scan. In his current condition, he has a slim chance of waking up from the anesthesia, so they are trying their best to get him stable enough to survive the CT scan. If he makes it through the CT scan, the scan should tell us if the vertebrae can be fixed along with any other issues they find. The CT results will show what can be corrected as Fitz cannot survive without correction of his dislocated vertebrae. Fitz will most likely need to be transported to the orthopedic surgeon in Bozeman, as they are the only ones in Montana that can perform surgery like that. Over the last 24 hours, Fitz has made fantastic progress, regained some of his cognitive deficiencies, and is slowly starting to stabilize enough to attempt the CT scan. Fitz is this family's world, and they will try whatever is necessary to give him the best chance of survival. As you can imagine, this will be a huge bill that was not planned for. As Ramani is a single mom, I want to set up this go fund me to help her in any way our community can.
