Help me save Eli
Donation protected
My cat Eli (rhymes with belly) took a tumble from my third floor window yesterday morning. It happened while I was asleep, on a Saturday morning. I woke up to a missing cat, 30 min of searching later I found him in the back alley with a bloodied face and a limp. I am heart broken.
He is at DMV Veterinary Centre, Montreal (Lachine), and his condition is stable. His left front paw is broken with a displaced fracture, and he is receiving painkillers and antibiotics. His fracture requires surgery to stabilize the bones, which is estimated to cost upwards of $4000CAD. The other options would be to amputate the limb, or bring him home with a cast on (which I am told, is only a temporary solution for the severity of his fracture) until I can find another surgeon who can perform the procedure at a more subsidized price. I am also looking into funds from foundations and animal shelters.
Eli is a trooper. I hope he gets well soon and has a full recovery. Nothing can dampen his kind and gentle spirit. He is a very loving and affectionate cat. He has been my best friend, companion, and side kick for what will be 5 years this July. I miss him a lot already.
No care giver should have to choose between saving costs and saving a limb, or have to decide against treatment because of the monetary costs of healing. I wish it wasn’t so, but is a sad reality of veterinary care, and today I find myself in this situation.
I am not one to usually ask for help, and this is proving to be a big test in humility for me. The fact is that my beloved cat requires medical help that I cannot afford and I need all the help and support I can get. Any gesture big or small, within your means, would be greatly appreciated, and I promise to pay it forward with kindness and generosity.
Sincerely,
Sufia & Eli <3
