Chances are if you are reading this you know Lauren, if not you should! She is one of the most kind and accepting, beautiful and loving people I have had the pleasure of meeting and calling a friend. Lauren has been through more in her short life than anyone should have to endure, yet she keeps her sense of humor and remains optimistic. She has been through years and years of unanswered medical questions, misdiagnoses, pain and struggle.
Lauren was diagnosed with a genetic condition called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, a flaw in the way the body makes and produces collagen. This disease affects every organ of the body; because of that there are many comorbid diseases. She has a laundry list of issues. The most recent one has had her in the hospital for most of the month of May and is currently dealing with a SEVERE case of Visceral Hypersensitivity. The easiest way to explain it is that we all have pain receptor nerves in our gut, the volume of those receptors got turned WAY up and became unbearable for her. It got to the point she was no longer able to eat or drink without pain and vomiting. She began restricting her food and water intake in hopes that it would just pass (which it didn’t) and because of that, her brain developed a disorder that causes the body to react to all food and drinks as if they are poison, resulting in losing 35 pounds in just over a month.
Lauren is currently at the University of Washington Medical Center and the doctors have concluded that in order for her to get back on her feet she must go to a specialized hospital in Denver, CO. This will be a huge financial, physical, and emotional undertaking. Lauren and her husband Jeremy feel so blessed by all of you that encourage them and share in their burden.
She didn’t want to ask for help or donations but I know there are so many friends, family and acquaintances who often wonder what they can do for her. Setting up this Go Fund Me will help her focus on her health and getting well and less about the expense. Any donations are appreciated more than you will ever know and will go directly to Laurens medical bills and care. Every dollar counts, even forgoing a cup of coffee would be so generous. Thank you so much and I know if the situation was reversed Lauren would be right there for any of us! If you are unable to donate please pray for her and share this page! We want as many people to see this as possible, she needs us!!!
