I am the mother of Alexander William Reed Yarbrough. Alex was diagnosed with stage 4 Ewing’s Sarcoma in May of 2017. It has been a long and painful year of treatment. The cancer has been aggressive and he has transitioned to at home hospice comfort care. More than anything, we covet your prayers. However, there are some needs that hospice doesn’t cover. Alex grew up in Cypress, CA, played Cypress Pop Warner, and was the starting center of the 2007 CHS football team (they won the only CIF championship in the school’s history.)He worked at Boys & Girls Club of Cypress while finishing his Bachelor’s Degree at CSUDH. Alex, known by many beloved nicknames (like El Gordito by his precious niños in Mexicali pictured with him above in April, 2017,) has had a heart for ministry, and of course, lots of fun!He served with Yes We Serve for many years visiting kids in Mexicali once a month taking supplies, spending quality time with kids, playing, doing activities, etc. He also was set up at church until he became physically unable. He played bass and cajon with the worship band, and participated in community projects like Laundry Love. He loves to wear a kilt proudly showing his heritage, go to Renaissance Faire, and play DandD with his Saturday night friends. These are some of the reasons Alex is loved by many! We appreciate all the kind words, thoughts, prayers, and offers of help. Thank you!
