Support for Dylan
On 8/13 we found out my 13 year old brother, Dylan Wichterman, had a large brain tumor and was rushed to Mayo Clinic to be seen by their team. Due to the severity, they wasted no time and scheduled to have it removed on Sunday 8/15.
After a long 7 hour surgery, we got the relieving news he had made it out, and he was brought to the PICU for his first night of recovery. The healing process has been hard, but he is so strong and has passed all of the daily goals they had for him.
He was discharged from his stay on 8/18 with the doctors there strongly urging them to stay in Rochester until they receive the pathology results to find out what kind of tumor it is and what their next steps will be.
Both of his parents have been with him everyday. All three of them will stay there in the hotel now at least until they can attend his follow up appointment to go over pathology results on Monday 8/23.
His parents are facing loss of income for at least one week- and they will be losing more to tend to his aftercare, though we’re unsure of what that will entail at this time. I’d like to do all I can to ensure they can have as little to worry about as possible on their return home, especially financially. This young man needs his parents there and their undivided attention throughout his recovery. I’m hoping that with this story we’re able to raise enough funds to make money the last on their worries list!
And lastly, I beg you for prayers. Please pray for the outcome of Dylan’s pathology results and pray that no matter the type, no matter the stage, this amazing boy can return seamlessly to the simple life he loves and deserves.
