Fighting with Brittany!

If you know Britt you have probably heard her story if not....On January 17th, 2019 Brittany was diagnosed w cancer. Only a few weeks later, around 6:30PM she had a seizure and coded twice. She was revived and put on a ventilator at 100%. They put her in a medically induced coma so that her body could rest. She spiked a high fever and they  had to insert a tube that basically ran ice water through her body to keep her body temp low. She was in that coma for several weeks before she woke up. After many months at UMC, she finally got to go home!!
In September of 2019, she had a Bone Marrow Transplant. That was a very long, grueling process and recovery was hard.

She pressed on and had finally turned a corner. She was back to tending to her babies- cooking and cleaning- and snapping selfies. Clinic appointments had gone from weekly, to bi-weekly to monthly and soon they'd be every 2 months.

Recently, she received a call that said "we've seen something we don't like in your blood." Brittany asked what it was and the Fellow replied "we've seen several blasts on your cells"... "so, this means cancer? The cancer is back??", Brittany asked. In her heart, she just felt like it was. The Fellow told her they needed her back for more bloodwork and she began preparing for the worst.

A few days after a marrow draw, the Dr informed Brittany that 73% of her marrow has leukemia in it. Her platelets are dropping by the thousands. Today, they're at 15. (Normal, healthy people live in the 100-150 range) The risks for bleeds and things that wouldn't typically be a worry for others, are a GREAT WORRY for a person with a low platelet count.
She has been admitted and will start chemotherapy tomorrow. There is a lot still "up in the air" as far as her plan. The Dr's still have much to discuss.

Nearly 80% of people with leukemia have a relapse. The number drops to 50% with a bone marrow transplant. So basically, she is starting over.
If they can get her back in remission, she will need another bone marrow transplant.
From Brittany- "One of the team just came in. My only hope of staying in remission is another transplant. Ideally, they would use the same marrow from same donor bc it would be less toxic to my body and less harsh chemo involved. I said "I don't want his sh** again!! It's messed up!"

Also, from Brittany "The ultimate goal right now is to get it in remission though. They told me to focus on that. We'll discuss what's next when we can get this in remission. They are still unsure of which treatment they are doing. Trying to make the best choice from the few that they have to choose from. My kids would be half matches, and a good choice- even a BETTER choice than a full match from the bank, according to SOME Dr's. Other Dr's say "no. Full matches are better!"
Full blooded siblings are the best match a person can have. I'm fresh outta those tho! "

Most of you know her job is being a mom!! The pay isn't great but the benefits are pretty amazing! At this point, Derek and Brittany feel it would be best to put the 2 youngest in a daycare/preschool type setting. Even once she comes home, she'll need a lot of "breaks". Tending to those two won't be easy for her. Daycare is an unexpected expense, as it has always been unnecessary. Day to day life, once she returns home will be so hard for Brittany. They will need someone to clean. They'll need a safe place to send their babies.

There's so much more to a health crisis and a hospital stay than just the medical bills (which PRAISE The Lord!! are almost always paid by her insurance... she has to spend a little every month for medicine and clinic visits but nothing like an uninsured person!)

I know they would appreciate any help we can give them!
