Hello everybody,
This is Ernie, our 4 month old miniature dachshund. When we took Ernie to get his puppy vaccines on our second day of him coming into our family, the vet told us that Ernie had a significant heart murmur. After a few trips back to the vets to see if this murmur improved, it was felt this was something he would not grow out of and would need to be referred to a specialist cardiologist vet for further investigation.
Today he saw the cardiologist and underwent a few different specialist scans/tests. Our little Ernie has a congenital heart condition called severe pulmonary valve stenosis, meaning the pulmonary valve in his heart is severely narrowed. He needs an operation within the next few weeks to balloon his valve to give him the best chance of survival.
Our main goal is to ensure we give Ernie the best chance at a healthy, happy life. Having the surgery will increase his life expectancy hugely. Because the murmur was found after only two days of us having Ernie, no insurance would cover him for his heart. As you can imagine the cost of scans and tests to get to his diagnosis has already pushed us back, let alone the price of the surgery itself.
We hate to have to ask for help but we need to try and save our little boy. We really appreciate any donation towards Ernie’s surgery no matter how much. Every penny helps make a pound.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read Ernie’s story.
Let’s save this little puppy’s life ❤️
