To help with expenses during this difficult time

I’m not sure how many of you are aware, but just before the holidays, my aunt Carol Reeves was diagnosed with breast cancer. She has recently undergone two separate surgeries to remove a lumpectomy and to remove lymph nodes to hopefully stop the cancer and just received the news a couple of weeks ago that her cancer is stage three and that she will be requiring several rounds of treatment; the first of which is to start this week.

To complicate things, in addition to Carol’s diagnosis, her husband, Ron, has also been suffering with his own health issues over the past 2 years; at times requiring hospitalization.

As you may also be aware, Carol and Ron started their own handyman business, a Couple Odd Jobs, in the last couple of years so the timing of their illnesses is most unfortunate as, due to their health issues, neither of them have any income at this time and no further supports such as EI to fall back on.

With Carol and Ronald’s blessing, we are reaching out to you, the community, in their time of need. Anyone who has ever struggled to make ends meet, especially when things are out of your control, understand how terribly taxing that can be on one’s body and soul.

We love our Island. Time and time again we have come together to help those in need and we are hopeful that this time won’t be any different. If you have the means, we would be forever grateful for any support you are able to provide.

Hopefully we will be able to ease some of the burden both Ron and Carol are feeling and at least help them to be able to concentrate on getting well.
