Pluto needs your help! Pluto is a big, beautiful, black Lab who just arrived in Portland with his humans--Mia and Paul--after a long drive from Texas. During the trip, Pluto developed a very severe ear infection, high fever, and stopped eating and drinking. His left ear became so swollen with infection that his ear just burst open, sending pus all over his head and paws as they were pulling into the Motel 6 on Division in SE Portland.

While Paul was trying to clean the wound at the hotel, Mia found my Help4Paws Portland page on Facebook and reached out. It was the middle of the night, but we jumped into action and were able to get Pluto in immediately at Blue Pearl in the Hollywood District for assessment and initial treatment. Pluto was anesthetized so the doctor could make incisions in his ear to help the infection drain. He was also given fluid therapy, pain relief, and massive amounts of antibiotics. He also required x-rays to rule out issues with his heart. Pluto was in the vet for about 16 hours. He's back with Mia and Paul, responding well to multiple antibiotics and steroids, and warm compresses on his ear five times a day.

The cost for his treatment at Blue Pearl was $3,713. I was hoping to get this fundraiser up a little sooner, but everything has been so crazy...so I'm doing it tonight.
