Hello! As many of you know, I'm part of an organization called The Paw Portal, which is a platform designed to help different animal shelters and animals in need, in and around Barcelona.
I've been volunteering every weekend at the Associacio protectora d'animals i plantes del Garraf, in Cubelles, and spending every spare second I have working as part of this amazing team to fundraise, organize, and support our volunteering efforts. There's so much that goes on behind the scenes—our team gives up so much of our own free time and resources to help the animals at the shelter and beyond.
Here's just a few things that we at The Paw Portal do:
- Organize teams/groups of volunteers to go every weekend to the shelter, around an hour outside of Barcelona. We spend our weekends walking, washing, and medicating our gorgeous dogs
- Help with the shelter's fundraising efforts
- Collect donations (food, blankets, medication, etc) from the public and transport them to the shelter
- Kitten rescue—we organize the trapping, veterinary care, and rehoming of feral kittens
- And so much more...
For my birthday this year, I'm asking for donations to our wonderful organization, so that we can continue to carry out the work we do for our animals in need on a bigger scale.
Not only is volunteering so beneficial for the animals, but from a personal point of view, being involved in this organization has hugely improved my own wellbeing, both physical and mental. I continue to be so inspired by the team around me every day, and with donations, we can do so much more.
We are in the process of becoming a registered organization, so for now I am asking for donations to this GoFundMe, which will all go towards funding the activities to help make these animal lives so much better.
So, for my birthday, please help me help the animals, by donating whatever you can! Instead of buying me a birthday drink/coffee etc, please donate whatever you feel like you can. Even one pound, or one euro, will go a long way in helping us take care of the animals we love so much!
