5k Everyday in August for Grampa
I'm Sophie and last year, in June, my Grampa was diagnosed with a stage 4 glioblastoma. After undergoing surgery, he attended Velindre for intense radiotherapy.
We received some good news that same summer that the cancer was gone, however, at the start of this year it had returned and there were no more treatment options.
Grampa sadly passed not long after.
I will never forget his mischievous smile or his belly laugh or the way he used to tell us stories. He was a man who spent most of his life working in labs trying to find ways to treat cancer.
Which is why I have decided to dedicate his birth month, August, to running and raising money for Velindre's Headfirst Brain Tumour Appeal, the charity that aims to improve the lives of those diagnosed with the same cancer that he fought so hard against. Sadly it is the only cancer that has not improved it's survival rates in the last 40 years and this is something I would love to see change.
If you'd like to join me in making a difference any donation will help make an impact. Feel free to join in with the running too! Thank you so much in advance for your contribution to a cause that now means so much to me.
