5K a Day for 4Louis

On the 10th August 2024 I found out I was pregnant.

The next day we went for a private scan to find out how far along I was as, as I have never had regular periods and had no symptoms. The scan confirmed I was 17 weeks and 5 days pregnant! Which came as a shock to us but we were so excited to have another baby and give our daughter Lily a little brother or sister.

The scan unfortunately uncovered that there were complications with baby so I was referred to the hospital and within 15 minutes of leaving the scan the hospital had already asked me to go in.

We had a meeting with the doctor and was advised that baby was very poorly.

A couple of days after I had a more specialist scan at Bolton Hospital which uncovered even more abnormalities with our baby. We had another meeting with a doctor who explained the complications to us and raised concerns regarding our baby’s quality of life if we carried on with the pregnancy.

I was booked to see a specialist at Manchester Hospital later that week but in the meantime I was booked in for another scan at Bolton.

Unfortunately at that scan the Sonographer confirmed that there was no longer a heart beat. We had only known our baby for a few days and she waited for us to hear her heart beat before she grew her wings.

On 21st August I gave birth to our second daughter. She was absolutely gorgeous and looked so peaceful. She was just to good for this world.

We received moulds of her handprints and footprints, professional pictures of her and a memory box all of which was provided by 4Louis. We also received our daughter’s ashes in a gorgeous little box also funded by the Charity.

4Louis provide memory boxes to families going through miscarriage, still birth and child loss. They provide bereavement rooms in hospitals and also supply hospitals with cuddle cots which we also used so that we could spend as much time as we could with our daughter.

We will never be able to thank 4Louis enough for providing us with this memory box as this is all we have to remember our baby by.

The Doctors and Midwives at Bolton Hospital have also been absolutely amazing in supporting us through everything and still continue to support us.

9th - 15th October is Baby Loss Awareness week so I am challenging myself to run a minimum of 5K a day throughout October to raise money for this amazing charity that has done so much for us.

If you are able to, please donate! It would mean the absolute world to us! Xxx
