Our 7 month old boy, Ginza gave us a huge scare over the last weekend. We found him panting hard with tongue sticking out struggling for breath, eyes closed, loss of his bowels, and nearly unresponsive. We rushed him to the Emergency vet where they instantly grabbed him and ran Ginza to the doctor. The doctor was very concerned and instantly put in a IV catheter and put him in an O2 (oxygen) tank. The carbon deoxide levels in his system were very high.
The long and short of it is that Ginza had to stay in the ER hospital for 4 days and 3 nights. Two of those nights he was on the O2 tank. Many labs were drawn, medications given, and a CT Scan was performed. He had caught the calicivirus, which can be deadly in cats, along with part of his nasal cavity had been eaten away by a bad bacterial infection that was festering. After discovering this the doctors performed an endoscopy that through his throat into his sinuses to take biopsies and clean out all bacteria. AIMSS SF did a wonderful job in saving our baby, but a tremendous debt was acquired.
My birthday is fast approaching and I was going to ask my friends to donate to a charity, but since this happened I’ve decided to ask those able and willing to help us with the cost of a vet bill. We are asking for $5000. This is actually less than 1/3 the cost which we were billed for vet care. Any little bit will be helpful and so very much appreciated. We have also decided that anything over $5000 will be donate to IBOK rescue. The agency in which we adopted Ginza and his sister from.
Thank you and bless you all from us two hookahs, Kayln and Andy, and from the fur baby himself Bigfoot Ginza
