Embarking on a 1-month solo expedition to a shamanic land
Donation protected
I am planning an expedition to a place known as one of the hearts of shamanic culture on the Mongolian frontier, in deep southern Siberia. I am going there to meet traditional shamans who have preserved the ancestral practice of shamanism.
I intend to spend a month there in May 2025, as part of a journey to launch my project, Occidental Awakening, by reconnecting with the land where shamanism first emerged.
From this expedition, I want to create a 20-minute short film capturing the essence of a shamanic initiation and bringing back the ancestral wisdom that these tribes have kept for generations. In addition to the short film, I will document my journey through filmed diary entries, sharing the experiences leading up to the initiation and after.
This is the story of a Westerner in search of lost spiritual wisdom—seeking answers from cultures that have kept their traditions alive.
My central question to these shamans is:
How can we rebuild a spiritual foundation in the modern Occidental world?
Here’s how the funds will be approximately used:
800€ for transportation from Paris to Mongolia
100€ for visas
1000€ for film production
200€ for translation from Russian to English
700€ for transportation and accommodations
400€ for gear that is adapted to Siberian weather
