Our dear friend Chino has recently been diagnosed with leukemia and doctors are telling him that he will be in the hospital for the next month, and then on bed rest for awhile after he returns home. Fortunately, the doctors were able to discover the cancerous cells at a very early stage in their progression. Nonetheless, Chino has already gone through leukapheresis-a procedure in which white blood cells are separated from the blood-2 times and is now beginning to undergo chemotherapy. All of these procedures are extremely costly physically, emotionally, and monetarily.While Chino is in the hospital, his partner Jo is juggling work and taking care of their 2 adorable boys, ages 4 and 2, all while spending as much time as possible in the hospital, being the leader of Chino’s support system. All of these factors seem extremely stressful already, but add on to that the financial stress of losing Chino’s income, and that makes this one of the hardest things anyone ever has to go through.We know that we can’t take away Chino’s pain. We can’t make his family and friends worry less about his health. We can’t make the doctors allow him to see his children. The one thing that we can all do is to relieve the financial burden on this family by helping to cover all of their bills while Chino is recovering. This includes everyday bills, such as house payments, car payments, gas to-and-from the hospital; it also includes all medical bills, such as all procedures, chemotherapy, all medication, and the bill for staying in the hospital room for a month.Cancer is one of the most expensive thing that can happen to a person, and we have the amazing opportunity to help a father, friend, and family in their biggest time of need.
