Let’s help Jake out. Here is his story.
So after months of no sleep and constant pain, I went to the doctor december ninth of 2024. They admitted me immediately, and over the next three weeks I had five surgeries. And almost died from sepsis. When I woke up from the last surgery, I had an emergency.Iliostomy. they released me the Day After Christmas still with the iliostomy and a catheter.
Over the next couple weeks, I battled with the catheter, having it removed and put back in removed and put back in because I was having trouble urinating on my own. February thirteenth I went into the hospital again.Due to being unable to urinate, while my grandson was being born in another hospital. On the other side of town, I had what was called a terp surgery where they removed a large portion of my prostate. They sent a piece of my prostate in for testing and february 19th I got the call that nobody wants. It was cancer. Stage 4 rectal cancer that had metastasisised and spread to my prostate and surrounding tissue. After that surgery, I developed what they called a urethral fistula, and was still havinwg trouble urinating. So a month later, they gave me a supra pubic catheter, which is where the put a hole straight through your stomach into your bladder. March I started chemo. I did 8 rounds and then lost my health insurance at the end of June. The health insurance that me, my wife and 2 of my kids depened on. I applied for financial assistance through the hospital and they approved me thankfully, but didnt cover everything, so bills have pilled up. 6 rounds into another 8 and things are uncertain, except for the debt. The oncologist won't sign off on me returning to work, and its unknown if he will with possible surgery or ongoing chemo in my future. Hope to know more in Nov of my cancer teams plans. When I lost company healthcare, I also lost coverage for meds and medical supplies, like osteomy bags ect
