Help Rebecca Overcome Surrogacy Trauma

Donation protected
Many of you may have read the recent Wired article that shed light on the painful ordeal Rebecca Smith endured as a surrogate. While the article helped bring truth to light, Rebecca continues to face lasting emotional, medical, and financial challenges because of her experience.

Rebecca selflessly carried a child as a surrogate, hoping to help another family. Instead, she found herself targeted and harassed by Cindy Bi, the intended parent, whose actions caused Rebecca immense stress, unexpected medical complications, and ongoing harassment that continues to affect her and her family today.

Despite everything, Rebecca’s strength and courage have been extraordinary. She has spoken up, protected her family, and endured more than anyone should have to. Now, she needs our support.

This fundraiser will go directly toward:
• Therapy and mental health care to help Rebecca heal
• Medical bills related to her pregnancy and recovery
• Everyday costs she has incurred while defending herself and rebuilding her life after her address was posted online
• Legal fees accrued

Rebecca and her family were especially hurt by false and demeaning claims made about her son in the Wired story by Cindy Bi. With her family’s blessing, we are including a blurred photo of Rebecca and her son , not to expose them, but to show the truth: a loving mother and child who never deserved to be treated this way.

Rebecca has given so much of herself to help create a family for someone else. Now we have the chance to give back to her. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps her continue rebuilding and reminds her she is not alone.

From the bottom of her heart, Rebecca thanks you for standing with her during this difficult time. Your generosity will not only help her heal but will also send a powerful message of compassion and solidarity.

We continue to use the pseudonym given by wired to protect Rebecca’s privacy. This isn’t something she asked for nor wanted. She wanted her journey to be private between friends and family, not displayed for the world to see. We hope you can understand.
