The economic crisis in Venezuela has created a severe shortage of food and medicine. (A video exploring the causes of the collapse is shared at the bottom of this page.) The Venezuelan currency is virtually worthless now. Bloomberg forecasts that the inflation rate will be over 1,200,000% by the end of this year, and the International Monetary Fund predicts it will be 10,000,000% by the end of 2019. Ten million percent! The result is a humanitarian crisis which has brought the country to the edge of mass starvation.
Most stores are empty, and even if food can be found, almost no one can afford to buy it. People have no option but to eat from the garbage cans, and there is no medicine available to counteract the parasites they contract.
Hospitals have no antibiotics or other medicines to give, and no surgical supplies -- even needles and thread to sew up a wound are not available.
Dozens of children are dying each day due to the lack of affordable baby formula and basic medicines.
Things are more dire and urgent now...
Here are 3 Ways You Can Help:
1. ATTEND our benefit concert "Unidos Por Venezuela"
2. BRING to the event non perishable food, medicine, hygiene products, shoes & school supplies. Latino Professionals & Latinos Giving As One will be donating 100% of the proceeds to help Venezuela.
3. DONATE $35, $50, $250 or more to our GoFundMe.
Please bring 2-3 friends to "Unidos Por Venezuela" benefit concern!
This event is being put together by Latino Professionals and 100% of the funds will go to support the organization Helping Children in Venezuela a group of Venezuelan volunteers based in Los Angeles, California that gathers non perishable food, medicine, hygiene products, shoes & school supplies to send to the children in need in Venezuela. The funds will be spent to buy items. We will be handing out a check for the full funds gathered to the founder of Helping Children In Venezuela.
Share on social media the event. Be active, not passive. Here is your chance to make a difference. If you don't care no one will. Please give and make a difference.
Con todo mi corazon,
