Funeral for Jackson George Sadler

Jackson George Sadler was born on 30.04.18 at 3:01 following on from his twin brother Noah who was born at 2:59. Both boys were absolutely beautiful and put up the biggest fight as it wasn’t an easy pregnancy and certainly not easy being born as premature as 26 weeks. The boys were monochorionic twins.. to most people this just means identical, but to the boys’ mammy & daddy it meant they shared the same placenta, which in turn meant the same fluids, which always posed a risk of TTTS (twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome). If any of you followed Daniis story on Facebook, you’ll know a lot about what they went through with the boys, but if not here’s a shortened version. The risk of TTTS was always high, so Danii had to be routinely scanned every 2 weeks, which was all going great! Danii had complications in the pregnancy anyway, not related to them being twins, but everything seemed to run as smoothly as possible until week 23. On week 23 Danii was taken into James Cook Hospital with severe back pain and abdominal pain, and got admitted for roughly three weeks, where Doctors ruled out kidney infections and pre term labour, but they never actually found the cause of the pain. Eventually at her routine scan the sonographer picked up that something was very wrong, Danii’s bump had almost doubled in size over such a short period of time and she was in agony with it, she could barely stand her bump being touched so to have it scanned was a nightmare. The sonographer called the specialist in, who confirmed it was infact a severe case of TTTS. They put both Danii and Josh into a separate room where they came and said the only chance of saving these babies is to rush straight down to London for a laser procedure. TTTS is basically a condition where one twin gets more fluid than the other, making them grow at a faster rate and the other twin doesn’t get enough, slowing down their growth and eventually in a short space of time, both twins will die due to the pressure on the heart and brain of the recipient twin (the twin getting too much fluid) in their case this was Jackson, and due to the donor twin being essentially left without fluid, this being Noah. Danii and Josh had to then rush straight to London, where a specialist scanned them at St.Georges Hospital and said if they didn’t go for laser surgery right now, the donor twin wouldn’t survive until morning. So down they went for surgery and had an awful overnight wait to find out if both boys had survived the procedure (there was only a 33% chance they would both make it) They were both overjoyed to find out the next morning that both boys had a heartbeat, although this was soon overshadowed by the fact Jackson was found to have a bleed on his brain. The specialists in London decided that the best way forward would be to terminate Jackson’s part of the pregnancy in order to give Noah the best chance. This was something Danii and Josh both felt strongly against and came home to continue the pregnancy. They were aware that the risks were massive as Jackson wasn’t expected to make it in the womb, they were continually reminded that he could die at any point as he was so poorly, but they just thought he’d fought so hard to get where he was today, that they couldn’t take that away from him. Two weeks later, at 25 weeks Danii had another scan, this time confirming that Jackson had fluid build up around his body, and they both got rushed off to London again to see the specialist. Again, they were scanned and told that the best thing would be to terminate Jackson as this would give Noah a better chance, but they couldn’t do it. So they returned home again with a plan to have an elective section at 28 weeks.Unfortunately the boys didn’t want to play ball, and they spontaneously came themselves at 26 weeks! It was an amazement to both Danii & Josh and Doctors that Jackson was doing so well, and he put up the most amazing fight for a full 5 days, before it just got that little bit too much.Luckily Jackson got to take his last breaths in his mammy and daddy’s arms, and he was so peaceful in doing so. Thanks to the neonatal unit in the RVI Danii & Josh got to spend the night with him and got to bath him, dress him, and take all the photos they wanted with him, and these are amazing memories that they will hold so close to their hearts forever. We’re hoping to raise enough money to help his mammy and daddy give him the best send off that he truly deserves! He didn’t get long enough on this world with us, so we need to make the day as special as it possibly can be ♥️
