Tom Griffith Stroke Fund
Donation protected
Life was good but Life can change in a moment. On Sunday, May 8, 2018, my dear cousin, Tom Griffith, returned home after enjoying a family day at the lake. He felt dizzy and decided to rest. His fiancée, Liz, found him later incoherent and called 911. Tom, 48, was rushed to the hospital after suffering a massive brain-stem stroke.
Liz and family have been by his side ever since. Tom can only move his eyelids and it has been discovered that he can understand and recognize people. He is totally paralyzed and he can only communicate by blinking.
At this time, the extent of Tom’s recovery is unknown and the doctors indicated that it is a day-by-day journey.
Tom and Liz recently bought their first house and were getting married this summer. He had started a new job and Life seemed so bright and good. Now, his life will involve the long road to his recovery. It will be the focus of his family and friends. He faces years of therapy starting with stroke therapy at an inpatient facility then ongoing yearly rehabilitation.
Tom could not afford the ACA monthly premium of $1100 and therefore has no medical insurance. He faces enormous medical bills in addition to the rehab, physical therapy, and day-to-day care. In addition, he will have lost wages and may never be able to work again. Tom’s condition requires intense and urgent therapy that, unfortunately, is beyond what the family can afford.
Any help will be greatly appreciated and will go for the ongoing expenses of recovery and will help supplement his family’s loss of income. Any additional funds will be put into a trust fund for his care.
Thank you so very much for your good thoughts and prayers for Tom’s recovery.
We hope your support will speed his recovery and lessen his financial burden. Please help us give this loving couple a life line in any way you can.
Again, thank you for remembering Tom in his time of great need. Please share this page.
