On May 1st we started our first full day of vacation in Palm Coast, Florida with Hunters mother, Amy Halstead, her stepdad, Jim and myself, her cousin Robert. We went to Flagler Beach and were all in the water swimming and enjoying the beautiful weather when Amy suddenly appeared to struggle and disappeared from sight. She was caught in a riptide and was not able to hold herself above water, all of us were exhausted and struggling to get out of the water. Everyone tried tirelessly to help get Amy out but there was nothing anyone could do. Jim Stayed in the water and vigorously searching for Amy to no avail.
Amy was gone from sight in the water for over 45 minutes until rescue showed up. The rescue team had started to give up when the tide changed bringing Amy closer and allowing rescue to retrieve her. She was taken to the Florida Hospital of Flagler by ambulance where they were able to restart Amy’s heart with medication and the help of the hospitals life support equipment. She was breathing over her ventilator briefly when she was first moved into the ICU but quickly began showing unusual brain activity and having severe seizures. Amy was unable to recover from her substantial injuries but fought strong with her 20-year-old daughter and loved ones by her side. On May 3rd. just a few days after the accident, Amy went home to be with the Lord. A beautiful mothers life had ended and her only child, Hunter, life was changed forever. Not only did Hunter have to witness this tragic event but her mom was financially supporting her so she could get through college. Hunter is going to need help with Memorial services, schooling, day to day necessities and would like to take a little time off work to grieve the loss of her best friend and Mother. Any monetary donation would be appreciated at this time to help my young cousin in her time of need. Thank you for taking the time to read this and god bless!
